Elections New Brunswick
paddles1

The Paddles are attached to a vote tabulation machine designed to allow you to cast your vote with the help of an audio session. When using this method, you will automatically hear the first candidate. Pressing the blue paddle will allow you to hear the next candidate and will return you to the top of the list once all candidates have been read. Once you have found the candidate you want to vote for, pressing the red paddle will allow you to select that individual and cast your vote. The machine will confirm your selection and your completed ballot will then be printed into a secrecy sleeve. At that time, our Special Voting Officers can help you deposit the ballot into the ballot box.

This method is ideal for electors with limited mobility. The paddles can be controlled by different parts of the body, such as hands, arms, legs, or feet. Our Special Voting Officers can assist you in determining the best location to position this device.

Using the paddles with the audio session is safe and confidential. Every elector will use a headset, supplied disposable ear covers for sanitary reasons. The audio is only heard by the elector who is wearing the headset.

Please note that the paddles will not be available at your advance or ordinary polling station.
