FREDERICTON (GNB) – Municipal byelections will be held on Monday, May 13, in five communities.

They are:

●    Campobello Island, (one councillor, Ward 2);
●    Cap-Pelé (one councillor-at-large);
●    Oromocto (one councillor, Ward 2);
●    Saint-André (one councillor, Ward 4); and
●    Saint John (one councillor, Ward 3).

Candidates were elected by acclamation in the following communities:

●    Charlo (mayor, Denis McIntyre);
●    Memramcook (one councillor, Ward 5, Rolando Cormier);
●    Saint-Antoine (one councillor-at-large, Renée-Claude Melanson); and
●    Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska (one councillor-at-large, Gérald Dubé).

No candidates filed nomination papers for vacancies in the following communities:

●    Baker Brook (two councillors-at-large);
●    Bertrand (one councillor-at-large);
●    Charlo (one councillor-at-large); and
●    Saint-François-de-Madawaska (one councillor-at-large).

Candidates wishing to withdraw their name have until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22, to do so.
