FREDERICTON (GNB) – Two additional municipalities have been added to the list of byelections scheduled in the province for Monday, Oct. 28.

Nominations are now being accepted for a vacancy on the Oromocto town council in Ward 2 and in the Village of Rivière-Verte for a councillor-at-large.

Nominations close at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, and candidates have until Monday, Oct. 7 to withdraw their names. Nomination papers may be picked up from a municipal returning officer or at local municipal offices, or they can be printed from the Elections New Brunswick website, http://www.electionsnb.ca.

“These are important positions, which allow people to give back at the grass roots level in the communities where they live,” said Chief Electoral Officer Michael Quinn. “Elections New Brunswick strongly encourages residents in these communities to consider running for these positions.”
