FREDERICTON (GNB) – When the writ for the provincial election is issued in August, the names of three electoral districts will change from how they appeared in the final report of the Electoral Boundaries Commission.

The request for the name changes came from current MLAs in the three electoral districts. The requests were submitted to the legislative administration committee of the legislative assembly under a provision of the Electoral Boundaries and Representation Act and were approved by the committee and Lieutenant-Governor in Council.

The new names are as follow with the previous names in brackets:

●    Fundy-The Isles-Saint John West (Charlotte-The Isles)
●    Portland-Simonds (Saint John Portland)
●    Carleton-York (York)
