FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers who want to ensure their information is up-to-date on the voters list – they may have moved or changed their name since the last time they voted – are encouraged to contact Elections NB before the Sept. 22 provincial election.

Elections NB are sending more than 350,000 postcard-sized notices to every household in the province, asking electors to call a toll-free number – 1-888-858-VOTE (8683) – if any of their voter information requires updating. Elections NB has set up a centre to handle the calls.

“Having the most up-to-date information on voters, such as their new addresses if they have moved, will help us process them more efficiently when they show up to cast their ballots during the upcoming provincial election,” said chief electoral officer for New Brunswick Michael Quinn.

Elections NB has a permanent voter registry, which is updated on an ongoing basis with information provided by other government sources. The reminder card is a useful tool in helping to ensure the information is current just prior to electoral events.

First-time voters who need to be added to the list cannot do this over the phone. They must visit their polling location or a returning office and show the appropriate identification required to be added to the list.

More information about the election is online at Elections NB.
