FREDERICTON (GNB) - Municipal byelections will be held on Monday, Dec. 8, in 14 communities:

  • Beaubassin East (mayor and councillor for Ward 3);
  • Campbellton (one councillor at large);
  • Doaktown (one councillor at large);
  • Hampton (one councillor at large);
  • Hillsborough (one councillor at large);
  • Le Goulet (mayor and one councilor at large);
  • Meductic (one councillor at large);
  • Miramichi (one councillor at large);
  • Saint Andrews (two councillors at large);
  • Sainte-Marie-Saint-Raphaël (one councillor at large);
  • St. George (one councillor at large);
  • St. Stephen (one councillor at large);
  • Sussex (one councillor at large); and
  • Upper Miramichi (councilor for Ward 3).

Six candidates were elected by acclamation in:

  • Neguac (Councillor at large Émile Basque);
  • Pointe-Verte (Mayor Normand Doiron);    
  • Sainte-Anne-de- Madawaska (Councillor at large Vicky Levesque);
  • Saint-Léonard (Councillor at large Serge Sirois);
  • Shippagan (Mayor Anita Savoie Robichaud); and
  • Tracy (Councillor at large Dale Golding).

No candidates filed nomination papers for the vacancies in:

  • Clair (one councillor at large);
  • Hanwell (councilor for Ward 4);
  • Nigadoo (one councillor at large); and
  • Saint-Quentin (one councillor at large).

If a candidate wishes to withdraw his or her name, he or she has until 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 to do so.
