FREDERICTON (GNB) - Nominations have opened for candidates to represent the recently-expanded Village of Atholville. An election will be held Monday, June 29, to elect:

  • mayor;
  • one councillor for Ward 1;
  • two councillors for Ward 2; and
  • three councillors for Ward 3.

Nominations close at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 5, and candidates have until Monday, June 8, to withdraw their names. Nomination papers may be picked up from the municipal returning officer at 8 Adam St., Campbellton, or they can be printed from the Elections New Brunswick website.

“These are important positions, which allow electors in the newly-expanded municipality to give back to the community in which they live," Municipal Electoral Officer Michael Quinn said.  “Elections New Brunswick strongly encourages residents in Atholville to consider running for these positions.”

Voters in Atholville will receive voter information cards in the mail in mid-June advising them of polling stations selected for advance voting and for election day.
