FREDERICTON (GNB) – Advance polling for the provincial byelection in Carleton will take place Saturday, Sept. 26, with a second day of advance polling taking place on Monday, Sept. 28. Polls are open on both days from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Voters are advised to closely check their voter information cards to verify their polling stations, as they may differ from locations being used for the federal election.

“We encourage electors to bring their Voter Information Cards with them when they come to vote in the advance polls, so that we can provide them with faster service,” said Michael Quinn, Chief Electoral Officer for New Brunswick. “Voters who did not receive a Voter Information Card can still vote in the advance polls and will be sent to a separate table to have their particular needs addressed.”

Voters also have the option to vote at the returning office located at 668-B Main St. in Woodstock. The returning office is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition, Elections NB can arrange, by appointment, to have a special ballot brought to the residence of a voter who is unable to leave their home because of illness or incapacity, and to bring a ballot to that person's caregiver as well.

“These various voting options provide flexibility to individuals to choose the opportunity to vote that is most convenient for them,” said Quinn.

Election day for the provincial byelection in Carleton is Monday, Oct. 5.

Information on the locations of advance and regular polling stations is available on the Elections NB website, or by calling 1-888-858-VOTE (8683).
