FREDERICTON (GNB) – Voters seeking information about candidates running in the May 9 local elections may find contact information about them on the Elections NB website.

A new section has been added to the nomination forms submitted by candidates. It offers them the opportunity to provide basic contact information, such as an email address, telephone number and links to a website or social media platform, such as Facebook, to promote their campaigns.

“We have added this feature to our website to help electors who want to learn more about the candidates running in their area,” said Michael Quinn, New Brunswick’s municipal electoral officer. “It is the responsibility of each candidate to run their campaign, but we have provided a free, optional method for them to provide contact information if they so choose. Elections NB does not endorse the content of any candidate’s campaign or website content.”

If the candidate chooses to provide contact information, it will appear on the website next to his or her name.

About 570,000 New Brunswickers are eligible to vote May 9 to elect mayors, councillors, district education councillors and regional health authority board members.
