FREDERICTON (GNB) – Voters in Le Goulet, Maisonnette and Salisbury go to the polls on Monday to fill council vacancies. Meanwhile, residents in the new rural community of Haut Madawaska will vote Monday to elect their first council, consisting of a mayor and eight councillors.

In addition, voters in 10 local service districts in the Lameque-Miscou region, on the Acadian Peninsula, will vote in a plebiscite on whether or not to merge with two neighbouring communities to form a new rural community.

Polls will be open Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Voters whose names are on the voters’ list should have received a Voter Information Card in the mail that shows the location of their polling station. The card is not required to be able to vote, but bringing it speeds up the process at the poll. Voters who are not on the voters’ list may be added at the polls but must bring identification that shows their name, civic address and signature.
