FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers who want to ensure they are on the voters list for the provincial election, expected Sept. 24, are encouraged to contact Elections New Brunswick. In some cases, people may have moved or changed their name since the last time they voted.

Elections New Brunswick is sending more than 350,000 flyers to every household in the province this week, asking electors to call a toll-free number – 1-888-858-VOTE (8683) – if any of their voter information requires updating. Elections New Brunswick has set up a centre to handle those calls.

“We have improved our election flyer by adding information, including the options available for voting and how to get added to the voters list during the election,” said chief electoral officer Kim Poffenroth. “This should help electors make sure they are ready to vote.”

Elections New Brunswick has a permanent voter registry, which is updated on an ongoing basis with information provided by other government sources. The flyer is a useful tool in helping to ensure the information is current just prior to electoral events.

First-time voters who need to be added to the list cannot do this over the phone. They may be added to the list by presenting the appropriate identification when they go to vote.
