FREDERICTON (GNB) – Producers of live performance venues and arts and culture festivals in New Brunswick can apply for funding through the provincial Ticket Incentive Program that runs until March 1, 2022. The program offers producers $5 for each ticket sold at an event that meets the program criteria.

The provincial government has contributed $300,000 to this initiative through the Arts and Culture Reactivation and Incentive Fund.

“This program was a direct response to the challenges faced by the arts and culture sectors throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace. “New Brunswickers want to support live entertainment by New Brunswick professional artists, and we are happy to help venues and spaces throughout the province during this difficult period. I encourage all venues that are eligible to apply for the program.”

Live artistic and cultural performances in the province between April 1, 2021, and March 1, 2022, are eligible. Applicants must also be existing clients of the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture through various programming initiatives. Tickets must be a minimum of $5 on average to be eligible for reimbursement.

Indoor performances or festivals must take all reasonable steps to ensure that every person working or volunteering inside the venue is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or is testing regularly and demonstrating their negative test results to the manager of the premises or event, in compliance with Public Health guidelines.

Eligible performances must feature New Brunswick-based professional artists and content in the following disciplines: music, theatre, spoken word, literature, film/audiovisual/new media, visual arts (including fine craft), and dance.

Successful applicants will receive a $5 incentive per ticket sold, up to these maximum grant levels:

·         venues with a small seating capacity (150 people or fewer) - $750;

·         venues with medium seating capacity (151- 500 people) - $2,000;

·         venues with large seating capacity (more than 500 people) - $4,000;

·         arts and culture festivals with 1,999 or fewer attendees - $4,000; and
