FREDERICTON (GNB) – Byelections will be held in eight communities on Monday, Oct. 28, following the close of nominations today.

Those communities:

●    Bertrand (one councillor-at-large);
●    Blackville (mayor);
●    Fredericton (one councillor, Ward 10);
●    Kedgwick (one councillor-at-large);
●    Perth-Andover (one councillor-at-large);
●    Rivière-Verte (one councillor-at-large);
●    Saint-François-de-Madawaska (one councillor-at-large); and
●    Sainte-Marie – Saint-Raphaël (mayor, one councillor-at-large).

Six candidates were elected by acclamation in the following locations:

●    Baker-Brook (Ronald Beaulieu, Cynthia Bélanger, Michel Joseph Bouffard and John Oriel Marchand elected as councillors-at-large);
●    Oromocto (Rémi J.P. Tremblay elected as councillor in Ward 2);
●    St. George (Sharon Tucker elected as mayor).

No candidates filed nomination papers for vacancies in Maisonnette.

Voter information cards giving the times and locations for advance polls and Election Day voting will go out in the mail during the week of Oct. 14.
