The fees paid to election officers and the rates paid for the rental of polling stations are set out in regulations under the Elections Act and the Municipal Elections Act. Effective June 30, 2022, election officer rates of pay are now automatically adjusted as the provincial minimum wage is increased. Rates for the rental of polling stations will be tied to increases in the consumer price index.

| In provincial elections, persons who are 16 or 17 years old may only be appointed as a Voters List Officer, a Poll Revision Officer, or a Constable. In municipal elections, persons who are 16 or 17 years old may be appointed as any election officer, except as a Poll Supervisor. |
